Abhinav Sharma is the Coding Peer Advisor with the Cornell Engineering Career Center. He completed his undergraduate degree in Computer Science and is pursuing a master’s in Systems Engineering. He has robust experience with data structures and algorithmic problem-solving and interned at Amazon this summer. On campus, he’s involved with the recreational fencing club and rock climbing; outside of class, he enjoys watching movies, going on walks and hikes, and traveling.

Allen is a Senior in the College of Human Ecology studying Human Biology, Health, and Society. He is from Potomac, Maryland, and is planning to attend Dental School after his undergraduate degree. At Cornell, he is also involved in the project team DEBUT and enjoys volunteering via REACH. In his free time he likes swimming, playing basketball, and spending time with his dog at home.

Aminat Ibrahim is a Ph.D. student in Biomedical Engineering studying how to reduce thrombosis on implantable cardiovascular devices. In Nigeria, she worked with AXA as a Business transformation analyst and BASF as a graduate intern. Quite recently, she co-founded a start-up that was among the first responders to the COVID-19 pandemic by developing face shields for health workers in Lagos, Nigeria. On-campus, she is the mentoring coordinator for BMEW. Aminat is big on advocating for underrepresented and minority groups; she enjoys hiking/site-seeing, volunteering, and meeting people.

I’m from Bethesda, Maryland and chose ILR for its unique curriculum and strong research focus, specifically in Human Resources. After graduation, I hope to attend graduate school, ideally in Europe, or join many fellow Cornellians in New York City working in Human Resources.

Fun facts: I love trying new activities – recently, I’ve taken up boxing! My current favorite artists/bands are Billie Holiday, Wild Cherry, and Foreigner.

Before coming to Cornell, I spent a lot of time volunteering at the Helen Keller National Center, a vocational rehabilitation center for Deaf/Blind individuals, where I was able to see how the right support can transform careers—an experience that inspired me to come to ILR and pursue my interest in Human Resources. In my free time, I love trying unique ice cream flavors (my current favorite is Honey Lavender) and making jewelry!

Hi! My name is Kaitlyn Bell, I’m a sophomore in ILR from Long Island, NY. ILR stood out of me because of the diversity of interest and everyone’s passion, it feels like a place where I can pursue everything I love. Lillian Lau is a Ph.D. student in Civil and Environmental Engineering in the Environmental and Water Resource Systems program. Her work focuses on equitable, stable, and robust water resource systems management and infrastructure planning under highly-uncertain socioeconomic and climate scenarios. At school, she is an active member of the Malaysian students’ community. She was also a teaching assistant, and hopes to apply her teaching experience as a peer advisor. In her free time, she enjoys learning to cook new types of food, and reading.
