Hello! I’m an MILR student at Cornell with a BA in Anthropology from McGill University and three years of experience in talent acquisition. Originally from Dubai, I’ve since lived in Canada and the U.S., bringing a global perspective to my work. Before starting at ILR, I spent a year as a Campus Recruitment Coordinator at a consulting firm, giving me firsthand insight into the recruiting process from both the employer and candidate sides. I came to Cornell to deepen my expertise in strategic human resources and am currently serving as President of the International Graduate Student Association (IGSA), where I support fellow MILR students. Outside of academics, you’ll likely find me at Big Red Barn Trivia Night or working through a cryptic crossword. I’m from Bethesda, Maryland and chose ILR for its unique curriculum and strong research focus, specifically in Human Resources. After graduation, I hope to attend graduate school, ideally in Europe, or join many fellow Cornellians in New York City working in Human Resources.

Fun facts: I love trying new activities – recently, I’ve taken up boxing! My current favorite artists/bands are Billie Holiday, Wild Cherry, and Foreigner.

Hi, I’m Diya, pronounced as “Dee-yah.” I’m really drawn to CHE because of its unique mix of design, social impact, and science and I’ve really valued how interdisciplinary and collaborative the college is – it allows me to connect my interest in user-centered design with creating sustainable, people-focused solutions. At CEC, I look forward to collaborating with peers to share stories of our Cornell journeys and help students feel more at home here!

I am interested in all things health related especially regarding systems-level health policies that impact our everyday lives. In my work as a career assistant I have learned more about the various interests of HumEc students and I look forward to meeting more students in the wonderful HumEc community this semester!

In the future I plan to work in a health related field. I haven’t yet decided if I want to pursue medicne or public health, but after graduation I will most likely continue my education to earn my MD or MPH degree. I am particularly interested in womens reproductive health, nutrition, and rural community health. In the future, I want to work in a variety of communitties around the world to support the health of the global community.

Esther Himmelfarb (she/her) is a second-year Master of Public Administration student in the Cornell Jeb E. Brooks School of Public Policy. Born and raised in Seattle, she attended the University of Washington, earning her B.A. in Political Science, International Studies, and Leadership. On-campus, Esther is President of the Cornell Negotiation Student Society and a Cornell Outdoor Education PE instructor.

Esther has experience in civic engagement, education policy, and leadership. She has previously supported courses in Leadership Theory & Practice, Project Management, Big Data in the Social World, and World Food Systems. Along with an appreciation for experiential learning, Esther is passionate about access to education across identities (i.e. age, race, gender, etc.).

As a Student Career Coach, Esther looks forward to helping undergraduate and graduate students explore career paths, review cover letters and resumes, and navigate Cornell resources. Outside of school, she enjoys running, reading, and exploring new places.

Hanna Lighthall is a junior studying Global Development with a concentration in Food and Agricultural Systems. She hails from Croghan, NY—the land of maple syrup and the Adirondack Mountains! Hanna has worked as a Peer Advisor in CALS Student Services for four semesters and one summer. She especially enjoys conducting in-person resume reviews and helping students build confidence in professional and career settings. Hi everyone, I’m Holly! Before coming to Cornell, I spent a lot of time volunteering at Helen Keller National Center, a vocational rehabilitation center for DeafBlind individuals. Seeing firsthand how the right workplace support can transform people’s careers inspired me to come to ILR and pursue a career in Human Capital. Outside of OCS, I serve as the Vice President of ILR’s Undergraduate Human Capital Association (U-HCA) and the Vice President of Operations for Forté, a women’s pre-professional organization on campus. In my free time, I love making jewelry and finding any excuse to be creative!

Nick Ballard is a second-year student in Cornell’s Sloan Program in Health Administration and the 2026-2027 Sloan Student Association Vice President of Corporate Affairs. Originally from Raleigh, North Carolina, he earned his B.S. in Healthcare Policy from Cornell in 2026.

At Sloan, Nick serves as the Director of Operations for the Cornell Vanderbilt Healthcare Case Competition and has competed in several national healthcare case competitions. He has also supported courses in pharmaceutical policy and population health as a Graduate Course Assistant.

Nick has gained experience across the healthcare industry through internships at Optum, Sinai Chicago, MATTER, Cayuga Health, and NCQA. Most recently, he served as a Healthcare Transformation Summer Associate at Deloitte Consulting.
