Aminat Ibrahim is a Ph.D. student in Biomedical Engineering studying how to reduce thrombosis on implantable cardiovascular devices. In Nigeria, she worked with AXA as a Business transformation analyst and BASF as a graduate intern. Quite recently, she co-founded a start-up that was among the first responders to the COVID-19 pandemic by developing face shields for health workers in Lagos, Nigeria. On-campus, she is the mentoring coordinator for BMEW. Aminat is big on advocating for underrepresented and minority groups; she enjoys hiking/site-seeing, volunteering, and meeting people.

I am interested in all things health related especially regarding systems-level health policies that impact our everyday lives. In my work as a career assistant I have learned more about the various interests of HumEc students and I look forward to meeting more students in the wonderful HumEc community this semester!
In the future I plan to work in a health related field. I haven’t yet decided if I want to pursue medicne or public health, but after graduation I will most likely continue my education to earn my MD or MPH degree. I am particularly interested in womens reproductive health, nutrition, and rural community health. In the future, I want to work in a variety of communitties around the world to support the health of the global community.
