The Roadmap Scholars Initiative provides both academic support and practical experience to undergraduate students interested in attending law school by exposing them to different aspects of the legal profession. The program’s goal is to prepare our Scholars to be competitive applicants to any of the nation’s top law schools.
College students apply to the program during their sophomore year. A strong preference is given to applicants who are first-generation college students, students with limited financial resources, and/or students who are interested in pursuing a legal career but lack access to opportunities to learn about law school, the admissions process, and the legal profession. Qualified applicants will be selected from a national pool. Ideal candidates will show a record of high academic achievement, convey a passion for being challenged as a learner, and demonstrate a commitment to community service.
The Roadmap Scholars Initiative supports the Scholars at every stage of the process, with summer stipends, paid travel expenses to and from Charlottesville, room and board for the summer program, and funded LSAT course preparation. The program also has a mentorship program that connects the Scholars to current UVA Law students.
We are so excited about beginning the selection process for our fifth cohort of Roadmap Scholars and would love to receive applications from your students! The application is open and will close on February 1st. This summer our program will run between May 28th and June 20th. We will do our best to support students whose academic calendars conflict with the dates of the program.
