Under general supervision, the Landscape Design Assistant, will support forestry plantings, corridor beautification, and park improvement projects
This is a Temporary Administrative Special Services (TASS) position.
This appointment term is based on the availability of grant funds.
Examples of Duties:
- Creates graphic designs in photoshop of landscape projects from hand drawn sketches provided by senior staff
- Creates graphic designs in AutoCAD of landscape projects from hand drawn sketches provided by senior staff
- Provides input on plant and tree species selections for landscape projects
- Manages planting contractors and reviews contractor work in-field
- Coordinates project development and execution from inception to closure
- Evaluates planting locations and inspects contractor work
- Manages residential tree planting data
- Supports tracking and data management of tree plantings
- Produces summarization reports for project team, leadership, and general public
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture, horticulture or forestry or a related field
- Skilled in the use of computer-aided design and drafting software applications such as AutoCAD
- Skilled in the use of graphic design software like sketch-up and photoshop
- Skilled in the use of commonly used word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and internet.
Qualification Preferred:
- Three (3) years of experience in landscape in architecture, horticulture, urban forestry or a related field
- Skilled in ArcGIS and comfortable running analysis with complex data sets
Knowledge of general city planning.
