This position provides an opportunity to build foundational skills in public health programming, patient advocacy, and nonprofit operations while contributing meaningfully to GLI’s efforts to improve liver health outcomes.

About the Organization

The Global Liver Institute (GLI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. You will assist with coordination, communications, and workflow development to help ensure programs run efficiently and effectively while fostering strong relationships within the liver health community.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Programs team to support GLI’s core liver health campaigns, including, but not limited to, fatty liver disease, liver cancer, pediatric liver disease, and rare liver conditions.
  • Assist in the development, review, and distribution of educational, administrative, and patient-facing materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with campaign and organizational goals.
  • Support program operations by organizing meeting agendas, recording and managing meeting minutes, and completing administrative tasks that contribute to the efficient execution of program activities.
  • Conduct research across a range of liver diseases, including current advancements in care, treatment options, policy developments, and patient support resources.
  • Review and monitor relevant news, policy updates, and scientific literature to identify information, stories, and trends that support liver education, awareness, and advocacy efforts.
  • Translate complex medical and scientific information into clear, accessible language tailored to GLI’s diverse audiences, including patients, caregivers, and advocates.
  • Assist in identifying and engaging key stakeholders across the liver health ecosystem, supporting relationship-building and potential collaborations that advance GLI’s mission.

Candidate Specification:

  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office/365 Suite and Google Workspace
  • Passion for nonprofit development and fundraising
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work independently and in collaboration with colleagues at all levels across the team and with external stakeholders
  • Strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
