The HEI Internship Program is a 10 – 12 week fast track development opportunity for college students to expand their knowledge in the hospitality industry. The Intern will spend their program immersing themselves into the Front Office discipline by shadowing critical leaders, attending operational meetings and working alongside the front office associates and leadership team that ensure the day-to-day success of the department. The objective of this program is to provide you with a foundation that will prepare you for a long-term career within the hospitality industry.
Responsibilities:
- Shadow identified leaders within the Front Office department at the hotel.
- Shadow each shift and each position within the Front Office at the hotel.
- Consistently attend department meetings within the Front Office as well as any leadership meetings at the hotel.
- Become proficient with operating the PMS and all other systems used by the Front Office.
- Utilize labor management tools to schedule and control labor costs.
- Interact positively with customers and take action to resolve problems to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and quality.
- Ensure compliance with Room Standard Operating Procedures and Policies.
- Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
- Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Recent or current graduate of a hospitality program preferred.
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to stand and move throughout front office and continuously perform essential job functions.
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
- Ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public, etc.
