JOB POSTING (INTERNSHIP)

Job Title: Archiving and Collections: Video, Media, and Film

Thresh is currently searching for a Collection and Archiving Intern to be a pivotal part of our 20th anniversary year. Main duties will include managing, cataloging, and organizing a wide range of digital materials: specifically video, images, interviews, written testimonials, and existing film. The intern will contribute to the accessibility of Thresh’s extensive digital archive, as well as conduct research in the archive to support ongoing projects and initiatives. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain insight into the preservation of a significant moving image collection, under the close supervision of Museum Experts, FIne Artists, and Theatrical and Educational practitioners. Designed for early-career professionals, this role includes training in essential archiving skills, personal mentoring, and professional development support. Thresh is particularly interested in applicants who are passionate about film, Native American studies, dance, and storytelling- as the majority of Thresh’s upcoming archival work centers around Women’s collectives and Indigenous and immigrant-based interviews, documentation, and storytelling. Preference will be given to those with a background or keen interest in Indigenous studies or a similar field. There is potential for this role to receive academic credit, or to expand to coincide with graduate studies or a PHD dissertation that intersects with these topics.

Qualifications:

  • A Student or early career professional pursuing a degree or career in Museum Studies, Library Sciences, Indigenous Studies, Art History, or a similar field.
  • Experience handling, digistings, and assessing film and video
  • Understanding ethical archival practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using Vimeo, Youtube, Google Sheets and Google Docs, with an interest in learning other programs.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
