Key Details:
- Location: Memphis, TN (in-person and remote work required)
- Hours: Approximately 10-15 hours per week.
- Environmental Sampling: Workdays typically begin around 6:30 or 7 AM and conclude around 3 or 4 PM. There may be breaks in the middle of the day. For example, a daily schedule could be 7 to 10 AM and 1 to 3 PM.
- Compensation: $23/hour. Compensation is provided for travel time to client sites and mileage reimbursement. This position does not offer health insurance or retirement.
Responsibilities
The individual in this role will work with the larger project management team to:
- Collect water samples at client sites, mostly schools and child care centers in the Memphis, TN area
- Pack and ship water samples to laboratory
- Assist with project communications, including making outreach phone calls
- Collect information on a digital device while in the field
- Accurately collect site data and complete chain of custody forms
Successful individuals in this role are highly motivated and able to work both within teams and independently. Candidates should be able to anticipate work that needs to be completed. We will train the right person to collect facility water samples to be delivered to the lab for analysis in addition to maintaining a detailed sample log.
Requirements
· Currently enrolled college student (environmental science or related field preferred)
· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols
· Comfortable working both independently and with a team
· Proficient in Excel and digital data collection tools
· Valid U.S. driver’s license with acceptable driving record; must pass background check
· Based in Memphis, TN, with reliable transportation
· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and walk or stand for extended periods at client sites
· Courteous, respectful, and motivated to contribute to environmental and public health projects
