As the first person in my family to go to college (other than my older brother), I know how difficult it is to navigate the world of academia and the challenges that come from not even knowing what one needs to know to thrive. I am passionate about helping motivated students reach their goals. I am the first person in my family to get a PhD and become a university professor.

I was honored to be a Hertz Fellow (https://www.hertzfoundation.org/news/big-data-and-consortium-leadership-helps-hertz-fellow-tackle-disparities-in-womens/) and love sharing my story and hearing others’ stories of their life’s journey.

My work has focused on women’s cancers because I’m passionate about empowering women to take charge of their health. Outside of work, I have worked with middle and high school students in programs like Math Counts and science fairs. I am also a USA Swimming Official.  I enjoy anything that can help others achieve their goals.
