Retired as Vice President of Corporate Quality Development for Sprint in 2004. Joined Sprint in 1982 after working for Yale University, Xerox and GTE.

Served as an Examiner and Senior Examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for the years 1991 through 1996 and again for 1999. Served as a Judge for the State of Missouri Quality Award, the U.S. Air Force Quality Award, and the USA Today/Rochester Institute of Technology Quality Cup Award. Served on the Board of Directors of the Excellence in Missouri Foundation. Past President of the Board of Directors for the Kansas Award for Excellence. Served on the executive board of QuEST Forum–the telecommunications industry organization promulgating the TL9000 quality management system–for four years. Directed the Conference Board Global Business Excellence Council. Frequent speaker at conferences and seminars sponsored by the Conference Board and other organizations. Awarded the 2001 State of Missouri Governor’s Quality Leadership Award.

Past Chairman of the Telecommunications Industry Benchmarking Consortium. Serves on the Cornell University Council Technology Transfer Committee, Holder of two U.S. patents.

Graduated from Cornell University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree and subsequently received the Dean’s Certificate for Advanced Engineering Study. Graduate courses in Engineering and Business at University of Rochester.
