Recruiting at Cornell: Engagement Opportunities

A variety of engagement opportunities that connect employers and alumni with Cornell students—supporting recruiting goals, strengthening brand presence, and fostering meaningful career exploration.

Recruiting Activities

Career and Graduate & Professional School Fairs that attract students from all degree programs on campus.

Hosted throughout the fall recruiting window, with priority scheduling for employers who attend Cornell Career Fair Days and reserved access to interview rooms.

Casual and interactive formats ideal for strengthening brand presence, engaging smaller student groups, and connecting with specific academic or affinity communities.

Specialized Engagements

Informal, non-recruiting focused sessions where Cornell alumni share their career journeys, offering insights on career decision-making, skill development, and professional growth.

High-energy events ideal for showcasing organizational culture, increasing brand visibility, and building relationships in a social setting. Please note that these events typically involve a cost for space rental and catering.

Dedicated events connecting employers with varsity student‑athletes in a structured, relationship‑building format at a time that is convenient for student-athlete schedules.

Opportunities such as drop‑in resume reviews, meet‑and‑greets, or tabling in high‑traffic campus locations ideal for strengthening brand presence on-campus.

Get Connected: Your Engagement Opportunities in Handshake

The Cornell Career Network utilizes Handshake, a recruiting platform that enables employers to post full‑time positions and internships, as well as promote engagement opportunities, for Cornell students and alumni at no cost. The steps below outline how to get started on Handshake and begin connecting directly with students at Cornell University.

Please allow at least 3 weeks notice for coordinating engagement requests. This ensures we have adequate time to accommodate your preferences, and ensures the best possible experience for your team.

Please Note: We do not approve employers from the cannabis industry, including CBD processors and manufacturers. Employers involved in the industrial hemp (defined very narrowly as containing less than .3% THC) industry must be licensed in their state through a pilot program authorized under the 2014 Farm Bill in order to be approved.

Click here and follow the prompts provided to begin creating your account on Handshake. You can follow this step-by-step guide provided by Handshake to help you get started: How to Create an Employer/User Account.

Once you’ve created your user account, you’ll be asked to connect with a company/organizational account. If your company/organization doesn’t have an account, you can use this Handshake guide to help you create one: Creating a New Company Profile.

In order to connect with Cornell University on Handshake, you’ll need to submit your job/internship opportunity for approval. You can learn more about Handshake’s job-based employer approval process here: Understanding Job Posting Approvals.

Once your first job is posted and approved, you’ll be connected with Cornell University on Handshake and have the ability to continue to post positions and view public student profiles. You’ll also have the ability to post events and interview schedules directly for Cornell students.
