Career Conversation: Hazel Gunapala '12, Fractional Head of Marketing | Ex-Coinbase
Have an informal conversation with Hazel Gunapala ’12, a Self-Employed Fractional Head of Marketing who previously worked in Product Marketing at Coinbase. Career Conversations are small-group sessions with 3–15 students. The conversation begins with a 15-minute overview of an alum’s career journey, followed by an open Q&A. Ask about day-to-day work, the industry, or how to enter the field. For example: “What does a typical day look like?” or “What steps can students take to enter this industry?” Students should come prepared with questions. About Hazel Gunapala:Hazel graduated from Cornell in 2012 and started her career with AT&T in a sales development role. In 2016, she pivoted into FinTech and joined ForUsAll, a 401k provider for small businesses. While there she built the customer success function, before transitioning into marketing. She has spent the last six years at Coinbase, where she led product marketing for Coinbase Prime, the company’s flagship institutional product. Throughout her time at Coinbase, she worked on a range of other products including staking, BTC & ETH ETFs, fiat-to-crypto onramps, and institutional custody. Over the last year, Hazel has transitioned to working as a Fractional Head of Marketing. Hazel holds a BA in Economics from Cornell, and an MBA from The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
