Contract Sales Development Representative, Nutritional Ingredients
Synergy5280 | Remote | Independent contractor (1099) | 8 to 10 hours per week | $40/hour + commission
Synergy5280 | Specifically Steve Kazemi, supplies premium and functional nutritional ingredients to dietary supplement brands, contract manufacturers, and food and beverage companies. We are building our outbound sales effort and are looking for a curious, driven contractor to open doors with new prospects.
About the role
You will be the first point of contact between Synergy5280 and the people who formulate and buy ingredients. You will research target accounts, reach out by phone, email, and LinkedIn, and hand qualified leads to our Sales Manager, who runs the sales process from there. This is a part-time, flexible contract role, well suited to a recent graduate or early-career professional who wants hands-on experience in ingredient sales.
What you’ll do
Run outbound outreach (cold calls, email, LinkedIn) aimed at R&D, product development, and procurement contacts at supplement brands, contract manufacturers (CMOs), and food and beverage companies
Research and segment target accounts using trade show lists, industry directories, and prospecting tools
Qualify leads against our ideal customer profile and hand them to the Sales Manager with clear notes on the contact, their needs, and next steps
Log outreach activity and leads in our CRM [HubSpot/other] or a shared tracker
Test and refine call openers and email messaging, and share what you learn
Follow trends in sports nutrition, gut health, healthy aging, and other supplement categories to shape your outreach
What we’re looking for
Bachelor’s degree (or graduating soon) in food science, nutrition, biology, chemistry, business, or a related field
0 to 2 years of experience. Internships, campus leadership, or customer-facing work all count
Comfort making cold calls and handling rejection
Clear written and spoken communication, with enough curiosity about the science to talk with formulators
Organized and self-directed, able to manage your own schedule and hit weekly activity goals
CRM or outreach tool experience is a plus but not required
Nice to have
Coursework or experience in nutrition, supplements, or food product development
Prior sales, SDR, or inside sales experience in any industry
Familiarity with the ingredient supply chain or supplement regulations
Engagement and compensation
Independent contractor (1099), not an employee position
Approximately 8 to 10 hours per week, with flexible scheduling
$40 per hour paid based on submitted invoices or time logs
Commission of 1% on closed deals from leads you source, paid.
Training provided on ingredient basics, our product line, and our outreach approach
