We are currently accepting applications from Civil Engineering Students in the St. Louis area who are looking to work full-time over the summer of 2027 to gain experience in Transportation Engineering.
Experience Level: College Level
Schedule: Summer – 32-40 hours/week
Salary: $19.00-$23.00/hr. – salary is commensurate with experience
Location: Swansea, IL
Essential Job Functions:
- Participate in the direct drafting and design of roadway, pedestrian and other transportation-related projects
- Work could involve design of drainage systems, detailed geometrics, and traffic systems
- Help prepare plans, specifications and estimates under direct supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer
- Assist Resident Engineers with construction materials and quantities documentation, construction observation, and some on-site materials testing in the field
Qualifications Desired:
- Must be enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering bachelor’s program
- Excellence in studies and strong desire to learn
- Ability and experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation in a previous job preferred
- Good project coordination and communication skills to work effectively with clients, contractors and the general public
- Team-oriented and self-motivated
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently
- Strong competency in math
- Willingness to work hard
- Attention to detail
