Overview
Epstein Nach Escobedo is a consulting firm specializing in business valuation, forensic accounting, and litigation support services. Our professionals assist attorneys, businesses, and courts with the analysis of complex financial issues arising in commercial disputes, shareholder disputes, marital dissolutions, fraud investigations, and other business litigation matters.
We are seeking an experienced Business Valuation & Forensic Accounting Manager with seven (7) or more years of relevant experience to join our consulting practice. The successful candidate will lead complex business valuation, economic damages, and forensic accounting engagements; supervise analysts; and work directly with attorneys and clients on a wide range of litigation and consulting matters. This role includes preparing and reviewing financial analyses that support expert reports, depositions, mediation, arbitration, and trial testimony.
This position is well suited for candidates who thrive in rigorous financial analysis, investigative work, and the development of well-supported, defensible conclusions used in expert opinions. The role requires strong analytical reasoning, exceptional attention to detail, sound professional judgment in determining and executing the appropriate scope of work, and the ability to communicate complex financial analyses clearly and persuasively in written reports and presentations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage business valuation, economic damages, and forensic accounting engagements involving privately held businesses across a range of industries.
- Prepare and review business valuation analyses for operating companies, holding entities, and other privately held business interests and financial assets.
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, general ledgers, and other accounting records of commercial businesses.
- Develop and review financial models used in valuation analyses and economic damages calculations.
- Conduct and oversee industry, economic, and market research relevant to valuation and litigation support matters.
- Prepare and review expert reports, rebuttal reports, and supporting schedules used in litigation and dispute matters.
- Perform forensic accounting analyses, including transaction tracing, financial reconstruction, and investigative review of financial records.
- Assist attorneys with financial analyses related to depositions, mediation, arbitration, and trial preparation.
- Supervise and mentor junior analysts, reviewing their analytical work and written reports to ensure accuracy, clarity, and professional quality.
- Manage engagement workflow and ensure timely, high-quality client deliverables.
- Participate in select networking and business development initiatives as directed by the Managing Partner.
Representative Engagements
- Business valuations in shareholder disputes and commercial litigation.
- Economic damages and lost profits analyses.
- Valuations in marital dissolution, partnership disputes, and estate and gift tax matters.
- Forensic accounting investigations and financial tracing engagements.
- Financial analyses prepared in support of expert testimony.
Qualifications
- Seven (7) or more years of experience in business valuation, forensic accounting, economic damages, litigation services, and/or financial consulting.
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial statements, accounting records, and financial data.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines in a professional services environment.
- Experience supervising analysts and reviewing financial analyses and written reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional credential such as CPA, CPA/ABV, CVA, ASA, CFF, or MAFF.
- Experience preparing or contributing to expert reports used in litigation.
- Familiarity with valuation and financial research databases such as Capital IQ, PitchBook, BVR, FactSet, or similar platforms.
- Experience testifying as an expert or assisting experts with deposition and trial preparation.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with experience. The firm offers medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, and certain paid holidays. A stipend for continuing professional education and discipline-related conferences may be available at the Company’s discretion.
This is a full-time W-2 position with a primarily remote work arrangement, occasional hybrid opportunities, and access to shared office space at our downtown Chicago location.
