Livingston County, New York is seeking a strategic and experienced public sector leader to serve as its next Deputy County Administrator. This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in guiding a high-performing county government while helping navigate fiscal complexity, workforce challenges, and evolving leadership dynamics.
Reporting to the County Administrator, the Deputy will support the overall management and operations of County government, with a strong focus on budget development, financial strategy, and organizational effectiveness. This role blends day-to-day operational leadership with long-term strategic planning, positioning the Deputy as a trusted advisor to both executive leadership and the Board of Supervisors.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in public sector financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and policy analysis, along with the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and build strong relationships across departments and with elected officials. A high level of judgment, discretion, and adaptability will be essential, particularly in navigating complex HR and labor relations matters, sensitive personnel issues, and cross-functional initiatives.
The position offers a salary range of $155,000–$175,000, along with a comprehensive benefits package including New York State retirement and health coverage.
