About FLOHOM
FLOHOM is redefining what it means to live, stay, and connect on the water. We are building a vertically integrated platform that unlocks the full potential of waterfronts through floating real estate and hospitality. From luxury floating suites to turnkey marina amenities, we design, build, and operate floating spaces that transform underutilized marina slips into high performing, revenue generating assets while delivering unforgettable guest experiences.
Our model is unique. We partner with marina operators, real estate investors, and waterfront developments to deploy floating assets that generate recurring revenue while activating underutilized marina infrastructure. From marina placement and financing partnerships to guest operations, FLOHOM controls the full lifecycle of each unit.
As we scale across new markets, disciplined finance becomes the engine of sustainable growth. Accurate and timely reporting, coupled with reliable forecasting, is what allows for planning, prioritization, and execution of strategic decisions across the business.
Role Overview
FLOHOM is hiring a Finance Lead to build the financial infrastructure of a fast growing waterfront hospitality platform. This is a builder role with real ownership from day one and a clear path to leading the finance function as the company scales. You will lead the day to day finance and accounting function while building the systems, models, and reporting infrastructure that allow leadership to make sharper, faster decisions.
You will own the monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, drive financial planning and modeling, manage cash and treasury, and surface the unit economics of every floating suite, marina, and revenue stream. You will also manage and develop our Accounting Associate, ensuring daily operations run cleanly while you focus on strategy, structure, and scale.
This is an AI native role. We are not looking for someone who simply uses AI to draft emails. We are looking for a finance leader who builds AI enabled workflows and agents that automate close tasks, improve reconciliation accuracy, accelerate reporting, and reduce manual coordination across our financial systems. Applicants must be able to point to a specific workflow, automation, or agent they have built, even a simple one.
What You Will Do
- Own the month end close cycle, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and audit ready records across all entities and revenue streams.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and modeling, including annual operating plans, scenario models, and ongoing reforecasts.
- Manage cash flow forecasting and treasury operations, including 13 week cash forecasts, working capital management, and bank relationships.
- Surface and maintain unit economics by property, including P&L by floating suite and marina, contribution margin analysis, and revenue performance by channel.
- Coordinate external audit and tax workstreams, partnering with our CPA and tax advisors on year end audit prep, tax filings, and compliance.
- Manage the Accounting Associate, providing direction, coaching, and structure across daily AP, AR, and reconciliation work.
- Design and deploy AI enabled workflows and agents that automate accounting tasks, improve close speed, and increase reporting reliability across our finance stack.
- Build executive ready reporting and dashboards that translate financial data into clear, actionable insight for the CEO and leadership team.
- Partner with leadership on capital planning, financing decisions, and investor reporting as FLOHOM scales across markets.
- Continuously improve financial controls, documentation, and operating procedures to keep pace with a rapidly growing business.
FLOHOM Technology Stack
You will work across the following systems daily. Strong fluency with several is expected. Willingness to deepen fluency across the remaining systems, including building automations and agents on top of them, is required.
- Sage Intacct (general ledger, financial reporting, multi entity)
- Bill.com (accounts payable and vendor management)
- Stripe (payment processing and cash receipts)
- Hostaway and Airbnb (property management and booking data)
- Airtable (data warehouse and operational reporting)
- Slack (internal communications and workflow triggers)
What Success Looks Like in the First 6 Months
- Month end close runs on a predictable, documented cadence with clean books, accurate reporting, and minimal rework.
- A complete operating model and budget are in place, with monthly variance analysis informing leadership decisions.
- Cash flow forecasting is reliable and current, with a clear 13 week view and proactive treasury management.
- Unit economics by property are visible to leadership, with contribution margins, occupancy, and revenue performance updated routinely.
- The Accounting Associate is producing clean daily work, growing in scope, and supported by clear documentation and direction.
- At least one meaningful AI enabled workflow or agent is implemented that reduces manual close, reconciliation, or reporting effort.
- Audit and tax coordination is on track, with documentation organized and external partners aligned.
- Leadership operates with greater financial clarity, making decisions from accurate, timely, and well structured data.
Who You Are
At FLOHOM, we hire for character, judgment, and ownership, not just a polished resume. If this sounds like you, you will thrive here:
Whatever It Takes (WIT): You take ownership of outcomes, not tasks. When numbers do not tie, processes break, or systems fall short, you build the fix. You do not leave loose ends and you do not wait for direction.
Service Over Self: You build a finance function that makes the rest of the business stronger. Leadership has clarity because of you. Operators move faster because of you. You enforce discipline without ego and operate as a multiplier for the team.
Never Settle: Good enough close, reporting, or forecasting is not acceptable to you. You raise the bar continuously, look for ways to automate and improve, and treat every cycle as an opportunity to operate sharper than the last.
Precision with Purpose: You care about details because you understand what they protect. Clean books, accurate models, and reliable forecasts directly impact strategy and capital. Accuracy is not a chore. It is how you operate.
Keeping It Real: You communicate clearly and directly. If a forecast is shaky, you say so. If a control is missing, you flag it. Leadership trusts your reporting because it is honest, structured, and grounded in reality.
You are organized, systems oriented, and comfortable operating at the intersection of accounting, finance, and operations. You are tech forward and AI native, capable of designing workflows and agents that increase leverage and reduce manual work. You can manage multiple priorities, hold context across the full finance stack, and operate effectively in a fast paced, growth stage environment.
Background
Required experience and qualifications:
- Direct ownership of month end close, reconciliation, and financial reporting in a prior role. This is a baseline requirement.
- A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or active progress toward one is strongly preferred.
- Two or more years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct or a comparable mid market ERP, plus exposure to AP automation, payment processing, and property management systems or booking platforms.
- Experience leading or developing junior team members.
- Demonstrated comfort with financial modeling, budgeting, scenario planning, and cash flow forecasting.
- Curiosity and capability around AI tools, automation, and agent based workflows in a finance context.
- Experience in hospitality, real estate, multi entity, or high growth startup environments is a strong plus.
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary in the $60,000 to $80,000 range, calibrated to commensurate experience and demonstrated ownership mindset. As one of FLOHOM’s first ten hires, you will join a startup with real momentum and the opportunity to shape the finance function from the ground up. Full time employees are eligible for health and welfare benefits, with employee equity available after one year of employment.
- Real responsibility from day one, owning the financial infrastructure of a category defining waterfront platform.
- A unique and inspiring workplace, from our Annapolis HQ to FLOHOM properties on the water.
- Direct exposure to leadership, working closely with the CEO and the broader executive team on the priorities that shape the company.
- A clear growth path: this role is structured to grow into the Director of Finance seat as the company and finance function scale, with scope and authority expanding based on performance and impact.
- A culture of ownership, innovation, and authenticity, where high standards are paired with trust, autonomy, and the expectation that everyone contributes meaningfully.
