About the Role
We are looking for an experienced finance professional to join The Pulse Prep as an MBA IB/PE Coach. In this role, you will work directly with MBA students navigating the highly competitive investment banking and private equity recruiting landscape, helping them craft compelling narratives, sharpen their technical skills, and land offers at top firms.
The ideal candidate has walked this path themselves: you’ve worked at a top investment bank or private equity firm, earned your MBA, and understand firsthand what it takes to break in at the highest level. You’re passionate about mentorship and eager to share the knowledge and experience you’ve built.
Responsibilities
- Conduct 1-on-1 coaching sessions with MBA candidates targeting IB and PE roles
- Guide clients through resume and cover letter development tailored to MBA recruiting timelines
- Lead behavioral interview prep, including story coaching and fit question strategy
- Deliver technical interview preparation covering LBO modeling, valuation, and deal discussions
- Advise clients on firm targeting, networking strategy, and the MBA-specific recruiting process
- Provide honest, actionable feedback to help clients continuously improve
- Collaborate with The Pulse Prep team to refine and expand our MBA coaching curriculum
Our Ideal Candidate
- Holds an MBA from a top business school
- Has 2–6 years of experience at a top-tier investment bank or private equity firm
- Deep familiarity with the MBA IB/PE recruiting process — timelines, expectations, and what separates top candidates
- Strong communicator who can break down complex concepts clearly and concisely
- Comfortable working independently, managing their own client relationships, and taking ownership of outcomes
- Passionate about mentorship and invested in client success
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and holds themselves to a high standard
